The Class of 2009 was chosen from 10,439 applicants, only
25 applicants fewer than in the previous year. 1,495
applicants were admitted, compared to 1,664 in the previous
year. The acceptance rate of 14.3 percent is a record low. The
acceptance rates for the previous two years were 16 percent.
The average SAT scores for the admits were the highest
ever.
49 percent of the admits were female. The admits hail from
48 states and 66 countries.
Early Action
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology admitted just
13.5 percent of its 2,830 applicants. MIT denied 50 students
and deferred everyone else who was not admitted. |
