Harvard Admits 9 Percent Overall

 

Harvard received a total of 22,955 applications for admission to the Class of 2011, compared to 22,754 applications received last year.  This number represents an increase of 0.9 percent from last year when Harvard received 22,754 applications.  2,058 applicants, or 9 percent, were accepted.

20 percent of the admits were Asian, 10.7 percent are black, and 10.1 percent are Latino.

Early Action Admit Rate Increases 7.6 Percent to 22 Percent

Harvard received 4,008 early applications, compared to 3,869 last year. 875 students, or 22 percent, were admitted compared to 813, or 21 percent last year. The 875 students who were accepted represent 47 percent of an estimated class of 1,675 students.

7 percent of accepted students are African American, 23 percent are Asian, 7.8 percent are Latino, and 1 percent are American Indian, compared to 9 percent, 20 percent, 6.6 percent, and less than 1 percent, respectively, last year.
